Note to self

  • Day before scrimmage - do NOT binge on fudge! Sugar hang-overs suck ass! Spiking blood sugar and crashing bad mid jam is NO GOOD.
  • Padrash is teh suck. I should wear long sleeves. I get so whiney over padrash I feel like I 3 year old. I can be rammed by Pookie so hard my hip goes crunch, but one tiny velcro scratch and I whine for days.
  • Do more cardio, and don't do leg workouts day before scrimmages. Dumbass.

So this Sundays scrimmage was so much fun! The Barcelona gang scrimmed together, but our jammers were removed (to give us tougher competition). And I got to jam! Getting the lead jammer whistle and seing the jam ref pointing at you is such a rush! ^____^ And so is scoring! Counting those hips as you pass them makes you forget all about your spaghetti-legs!
I have got some amazing ladies on the team and I learn SO much every single time I get on the track!

LOVE LOVE LOVE derby! <3

One thing thou... the faces you make in pictures are the worst. "Derbyfaces" makes me look like a sad, confused baby. I mean look at me! (yellow helmet). Well, at least I can laugh at myself. XD

Fun in the box

Last nights scrimmage was an intense time in the box. We had some situations occurr that were a bit confusing while in the midst of it, but our amazing NSO/Ref crew managed to sort it out quick and easy!

A few jammes were in a bit of a hurry thou.

Remember that all you girls reading this. Do not get up and leave until you get your "done!" Hurrying out a second early will give you another sour minute in the bin. And in this jammer situation that the link describes our girls had a tendency to get up and skate off before they got any word from the box crew. Most of these times it was because the other jammer took a while to get in the right seat on the bench, and before she is properly down and her timer starts you  won't get your "done". So take that extra second or two and wait until you're properly done so you won't have to go straight back in!

We also had a 7.4.10 moment that got a bit messy due to a jam being called off due to an injury and confusing regarding it being the last jam and so on, but in the end it all got sorted out correctly!

I love it when scrimmages get hectic and you have to get your problemsolving-brain up and working quick!
It gives us valuable experience and now we're all so much wizer! Jay Derby! <3

It was also the scrimmage premiere for Krakel as a reff! He did a super good job (even when dealing with a player pileup right infront of his feet)! *proud*
